Batty Clause and Other Christmas Stuff.

Standard

I guess since Christmas is in a few days I should share a little about my Christmas preparations, which really only consist of a tiny Santa hat and wrapping presents.

First thing first, Batty Clause. The Boyfriend bought me a bat for Halloween and I kinda like him, so instead of taking him down for the Christmas season I made him a Santa hat. By the way, Batty’s name is Bartholomew from now on. I think I need to make him a monocle next…. but I am getting off topic.

To make a tiny Santa hat all you need is red material (I just used an old shirt), a cotton facial pad thingy, tacky glue and paper. First make a template by drawing a triangle on the paper and then round the bottom of said triangle. Make the template a little taller than you want the hat and slightly wider than the head of the recipient depending on the stretchiness of the material. Place template on a folded piece of the fabric and cut. (I “hemmed” toward the end of the process, but it might be easier to do it at this point. )

Circle the fabric around on itself to form the hat and glue. This is where I tucked and glued the bottom into the hat to “hem” it. Then all I did was cut a piece of the cotton and glued it to the bottom. Lastly I pulled a piece of the cotton off, rolled it into a ball, added a little glue, rolled again, added more cotton, glue, roll, cotton until the ball was big enough and glued that onto the pointy bit. Let dry for a couple hours to make sure the glue has set and the tiny Santa hat is done! Awww…… isn’t he cute!

Next, how to wrap presents on a budget:

At work if you are asked to wrap 70 packages for employees do so and then to salvage your sanity  use paper clips and strips of paper to fancy one of the packages up for the boss man. (Really I enjoyed it, but I like a little harmless drama here and there) The cabinet I was wrapping has a space between sections of the cabinet that was a perfect scissor guide. Brilliant!

At home decide that you don’t want to spend money or waste space storing wrapping paper so dig out some old Christmas bags and a few old T-shirts (See boyfriend, those old shirts are coming in handy and I will actually use the ones I kept 🙂 ). Make bags out of the T-shirts by cut them under the arms and sewing the bottoms or just use fabric glue or iron on tape. Then just tie off with ribbon. I also had my designer boyfriend make little tags. Aren’t they cute!

Now all I have to do is finish the week at work and drive home for Christmas with the family. My brothers/sisters are even going to be in town, so YAY!!!

Have you made any tiny Santa hats, homemade holiday bags or monocles?

Happy Holidays sweet peoples!
